Presenter:  Marilyn Lyga, PhD
Marilyn Lyga received her PhD in 1982 after having completed training at Ohio State University. She is Board certified in Counseling Psychology, and is ASSECT (pronounced “A sect”) certified in sex therapy. Program Narrative:
What distinguishes those couples who maintain an active sex life into their 70’s and 80’s from those that don’t. We know from the research that it’s not a matter of health status- couples who are disabled can still be great lovers. In this lecture, Marilyn Lyga will discuss the effect of aging on relationship and self-esteem, and what can be done for those couples who want to continue to have an active erotic life with age.

Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
1. Identify the major sexual health problems that occur with advancing age.
2. Identify the challenges to self-concept that such health problems cause, and implications for the couple.
3. Apply treatment strategies that assist patients coming to terms with their “new normal”.
