Category: Outside Group Program

CBC will be hosting a CBT Foundational beginning Monday, July 6th, and a DBT Foundational in August using a state-of-the-art virtual platform. The workshops will provide comprehensive training on evidence-based techniques and strategies for mental health professionals to help meet the wide range of mental health challenges of clients during this crisis and beyond. These foundational workshops are intended to prepare professionals to address the increased mental health needs in the community today and teach skills to engage clients using telehealth platforms. These foundational training workshops build knowledge, skills, and competence in CBT and DBT. Our virtual portal will permit participants to receive instruction, participate in discussions, observe role plays, demonstrations, videos, and practice therapy skills in small group sessions thanks to our team of instructors.

Certificates of Completion will be given to all attendees. 35 Continuing Education Credit Hours will be offered to all psychologists and to NY social workers for each workshop. Discounts are available if you sign up for both 5-Day Foundational trainings or if you sign up as a group. Student discounts and discounts for attendees who have enrolled in prior training at CBC are also available. For more information, please contact Saranda Krasniqi at (914) 385-1150 or via email at [email protected] or visit us at the CE For Mental Health Professionals tab to register.

CBT Foundational Training on July 6, 8, 10, 14, 16 2020, Registration and sign-in begins 8:30-9 am. Workshop hours 9-5 pm. Click here to learn more about the Foundational Five Day CBT Foundational. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) represents an umbrella of therapies that have shown to be effective in treating a variety of problems and conditions. CBT has shown to reduce emotional suffering and to help individuals of all ages lead more fulfilling lives. This intensive, comprehensive 5-day foundational training program in CBT, now in its seventh year, was created by Dr. Lata K. McGinn for a wide range of mental health professionals - for those without any background in CBT, for early career professionals, and for advanced clinicians who learned CBT through self-study, workshops or courses - to help them rigorously apply and implement CBT case conceptualization and strategies to treat clients of all ages. The 5-Day training will teach core skills in CBT across conditions and problems, including trauma, worry and general anxiety and stress, panic, agoraphobia, social anxiety, depression, OCD, externalizing conditions, and relationship problems. Clinicians also have the valuable opportunity to receive ongoing consultation following the training to become adherent in practicing CBT. Upon completion of the 5-Day CBT Foundational training, attendees will have received the required didactic hours of training in CBT necessary to apply to become a Certified Diplomate through the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT).

DBT Foundational Training on August 31, September 2, 4, 8, and 10th, 2020. Registration and sign-in begin 8:30-9 am. Workshop hours 9-5 pm. The Five Day DBT Foundational workshop is for clinicians who are members of existing consultation teams. Dr. Alec Miller co-developed DBT for multi-problem and self-harming adolescents, which is now an established evidence-based treatment for multi-problem and self-harming adolescents. Dr. Alec Miller and his colleagues will teach the theories, structure, and practice of the DBT model, including strategies for individual sessions, skills training groups, inter-session coaching, and the effective management of a consultation team. Research has shown DBT with adolescents effectively reduces self-harm behaviors, depression, hopelessness, a dropout from treatment, psychiatric hospitalization, substance use, and interpersonal difficulties. Clinicians also have the valuable opportunity to receive ongoing consultation following the training to become adherent in practicing DBT. Upon completion of the 5-Day DBT Foundational training, attendees serving on consultation teams will have received the required hours of training in DBT to treat clients under supervision.

Please note advanced registration is required for both foundationals. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
